BIBLE DEVOTIONAL GUIDELINES
Some wrongly choose to read only the Psalms and Proverbs and know little about the rest of the Bible. This is NOT A GOOD CHOICE.
Any Bible translation will do, and some choose the New American Standard (NAS) or the New International Version (NIV). Both are good translations, but for the
most exact accuracy the King James Version (KJV) is without any question the best. Other translations can not be recommended if accuracy is important to you, and it
should be.
Our recommendation is to begin with the Gospel of John. Read 5 chapters a day even if you do not understand very much, this is normal. At this rate (5 chapters a day or more)
read the Gospel of John through 3 times. Each time you do this your understanding should increase.
Then go to Matthew's Gospel and read the whole New Testament at least 3 times. Even though the book of Revelation may seem difficult, read it anyway.
Listen for the Holy Spirit to open your understanding.
If you have not repented of your sins, this is our recommendation:
- First, you have to admit you are a sinner because all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
- If you are willing to repent (or forsake your sins) it is suggested that you get to a private place, get on your knees and simply pray the following: God, I admit
I am a sinner. Have mercy on me and forgive me through the shed blood of Jesus who died for my sins on the cross. I ask it in the name of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,
amen.
- Find a good Bible teaching church and attend faithfully.
Churches that teach no Scripture or 1% Scripture and then just give worldly stories can not be considered Bible teaching churches. If the church does not understand that water baptism is by full immersion and only after repentance,
then it does not understand Scripture as it ought. Depart from this church.
It is written, Mk 16:16- HE THAT BELIEVETH AND IS BAPTIZED SHALL BE SAVED, BUT HE THAT BELIEVETH NOT SHALL BE DAMNED.
